Glacier Washington is the last town before you enter the Mt Baker National Forest. If I was taking a trip up to the Mt. Baker area, I usually make a stop in Glacier for some supplies, because you won't find many opportunities after the town of Glacier for gas, restaurants, or other supplies. Mt Baker Hwy goes through Glacier and the road ends at Artisan Point at Mt. Baker. Tons of visitors every year go to this area for hiking and the snow skiing, snow boarding, and cross country skiing during the winter snow months.
The Glacier area also has some nice options for purchasing real estate. Being that the area is known for world class skiing on nearby Mt Baker, there are lots of chalets, cabins, and stunning custom homes using lots of natural looking craftsmanship homes available in Glacier homes for sale. There are a couple of communities in the area where you can either buy a lot, acreage or a home at a very reasonable price.
